Sprouts easy to do and very nutritious:
1. Fill bottom of mason or any other jar with seeds.
2. Put a mesh canvas lid on top for pouring water out, and finer mesh for smaller seeds (possibly window screening or what ever you can find). Trace mesh with lid of jar and cut to fit inside mason jar lid if this is what you are using, or cut bigger piece and wrap with elastic band.
3. Fill jar with clean water, give it a good shakeing, and drain. Do this three times.
4. Let sit for 6 to 8 hours and repeat the steps for rinsing seeds. Facing on a downward angle propped up by towels or anything you can find. Repeat these steps for several days, until jar is filled with sprouts. Guaranteed to grow sprouts seedlings without bacteria growth. I think i will use this method to get my seedlings done for spring before potting them. But until that time I will eat them just for the concentrated nutrition as sprouts.

http://www.immunesystemremedies.com/ Good Food For The Immune System For optimal health, good food for the immune system is essential and plays a major factor in keeping our cells healthy. Sickness is caused because of basically two things, nutritional deficiency and toxicity. Good food gives the cells the nutrients they need in order to function the way they are designed to function. Bad foods contain toxins and the cells are poisoned by something that inhibits proper function. Good Immune System Foods Raw, organic vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, kale, collard greens, and spinach are the great source of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and fiber. Fruits (like blueberries, bananas , and mangoes.) are good sources of antioxidants and phytonutrients High-quality, organic, hormone- and antibiotic-free “grass-fed” meats and poultry Proteins containing amino acids aids in the growth and repair of your immune system. Some protein sources can be protein shakes, chlorella, spirulina, organic,cage-free eggs, organic meat and poultry. High-quality, wild fish especially those high in Omega-3 fatty acids like salmon, trout and tuna. High-quality fiber Whole grains like brown rice, millet, buckwheat, oats, and barley are also a valuable source of the vitamins, minerals and fiber that are an essential part of keeping the immune system healthy. Fiber helps cleanse the colon of toxins and helps prevent intestinal infections. LUNG Health and B3/Niacin
It is a well-known fact that one of the best things you can do for your lung health is take up a regular exercise program. Exercise does allsorts of good things for your body, from giving a short term boost to your immune system, to giving you good feelings like those you originally got from cigarettes (before your body got used to them, andyou had to smoke just to fee'normal'). The amount of time you spend and the intensity of your exercise should be based on your age, the type of exercise you do, and your starting fitness level. I recommend you pick an exercise that you enjoy, one that you can do without any great risk of injury, and one that you can increase the intensity as your fitness level increases. It is certainly okay to do more than one type of exercise, but it is most important that your exercise sessions be regular, so your body can get into the swing of exercising, especially if you've been away from that form of exercise for some time.
A good way to get back into exercise is to join a gym. A lot of gyms these days will help you set up a program and then just let you manage it yourself, and you can often pay every two weeks, rather than a big amount up front gym (and the money you save from not smoking can go towards this more positive outlet). Remember when exercising to push yourself a little further each time, but not so much that it hurts (although a bit of discomfort is expected). If you go that little further each
time, not only will your fitness improve, but your body will release endorphins that will help you feel
HEALTH WARNING: as with all new exercise programs, you should consult with your doctor to be sure it is safe for you to proceed. If you choose to begin a program without doing this, you are solely responsible for any ill effects. The producers of The
Guide series cannot be held responsible for any injury or damage caused to you by taking on an exercise program that is too good about exercise and yourself. It might even become a new, positive habit. Swimming is also considered a good exercise for those recovering from smoking, but whatever exercise you choose, moderate to strong cardio exercise helps get those lungs working. Breathe deep, and work your heart rate to the safe level for your age (no more than 85% of recommended heart rate for your age), and you fitness will improve over regular exercise sessions. Just remember that on the other side of the exercise equation, proper quantities of rest and good periods of regular sleep can also help the immune system.
Supplements & Herbal Fortifications
There is much conjecture (argument) over whether or not supplements (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and 'good oils') are worth the expense, and just how much they actually help you. I believe that the right levels of the right types of supplements can help improve not only your immune system, but those systems of the body that actually reconstruct and repair damage. There
are many supplements out there, but the ones to look for are ones that take their components from bio-available sources, or make their components the most bio-available. Nutrients that are important to the good functioning of your immune system are the same ones that were high in the foods and include:
Vitamin C: This vitamin tops the list of immune boosters for many reasons.
Vitamin E: This important antioxidant and immune booster is important to a healthy immune system.
Carotenoids: It is not just beta carotene that produces a good boost for your immune system, but all the carotenoids
HEALTH ADVISORY: if you have a high protein (meat, eggs, milk and cheese) diet, you WILL get quite a bit of direct vitamin A from these foods. Do be careful, as it is possible to poison yourself with too much Vitamin A direct from these sources.
If you are on a high protein diet from animal sources, avoid foods like liver, as vitamin A is highly concentrated there. You are much better off increasing your beta carotene intake (and other carotenoids as well) than get direct vitamin A. The body converts beta carotene to vitamin A, which itself has anticancer properties and immune-boosting functions. But too much vitamin A can be toxic to the body, so it's better to get extra beta carotene from supplements containing beta carotene (and other caotenoids) and let the body naturally regulate itself because when the body has enough vitamin A, it stops making it. Foods high in beta carotene include carrots, spinach, kale, cantaloupe, apricots, papaya, mango, and oatmeal. You can get a lot of the other carotenoids from sweet potato as well.
Bioflavenoids: A group of phytonutrients called bioflavenoids that aid the immune system
by protecting the cells of the body against environmental pollutants.
Zinc: This mineral is considered a good immune booster, in the right quantities. It is also
know to improve virulence (sexual prowess and ability to conceive children) in men, but
again when the right amounts are consumed. A word of caution: too much zinc in the form
of supplements (more than 75 milligrams a day) can inhibit immune function. Aim for 15 to
25 milligrams a day for the best effects.
Selenium: This mineral increases natural killer cells and mobilizes cancer-fighting cells.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Act as immune boosters by increasing the activity of phagocytes, the
white blood cells that eat up bacteria. Essential fatty acids also protect the body against
damage from over-reactions to infection.
Echinacea: A good herbal immune system booster, as it increases the numbers and activity
of white blood cells, as well as increasing the production of interferon, a vital chemical for
the immune system response.
USANA Nutritionals

AVOID excess alcohol: Excessive alcohol intake can harm the body's immune system in two ways. First, it produces an overall nutritional deficiency, depriving the body of valuable immune boosting nutrients. Second, alcohol, like sugar, consumed in excess can reduce the ability of white cells to kill germs.
AVIOD food allergens: Due to a genetic quirk, some divisions of the immune army recognize an
otherwise harmless substance (such as milk) as a foreign invader and attack it, causing an allergic
reaction. Before the battle, the intestinal lining was like a wall impenetrable to foreign invaders.
After many encounters with food allergens, the wall is damaged, enabling invaders and other
potentially toxic substances in the food to get into the bloodstream and make the body feel miserable. This condition is known as the leaky gut syndrome. Information about Healing Leaky Gut Syndrome Naturally.
AVOID too much fat: Obesity can lead to a depressed immune system. It can affect the ability of
white blood cells to multiply, produce antibodies, and rush to the site of an infection. Also, fat, especially around the middle, can store up harmful toxins, that can make your life hell when released as you lose weight. So the best thing to do is avoid putting it on in the first place.
So by eating the right things, and avoiding overdoing the bad things, you'll be well on your way to
improving your general health, and most importantly, the health of your lungs. But there are still more things you can do to improve your lung health, and remove that disgusting tar from them in record time. Read on!
fruit juices and white bread have a very high GI (turns to sugar in your body very quickly). It also has next to
no fiber, and turns into glue in your stomach. Try to have wholegrain or brown breads instead. Likewise, brown pastas and rice are far better for you than their white versions.
Options to Clear Your Lungs and Improve Your Health
Now we get into the really crucial part Here we outline the methods and tips to help you clear your lungs of tar far quicker and more completely than would occur if you did nothing. To help break up and move the mucus and tar from your lungs, improve your lung volume, function and blood oxygenation. understand that by speeding up the clearingof your lungs with these methods, you may go through periods of feeling poorly as the toxins trapped within your lungs are released. Keep in mind that these periods of discomfort are worth it, and you will feel even better much sooner as a result. Another benefit may be that these periods will demonstrate to you very tangibly what you have done to yourself by smoking, and it will help to turn you off the destructive habit forever.
Niacin
Also widely known as Vitamin B3 Niacin is the B vitamin that has generated a lot of excitement in the areas of quitting smoking and lung detoxification in the last 20 years. A requirement (in optimal doses) in our diet for proper functioning of our bodies, Niacin has a very similarbiochemical structure Nicotine, the chemical that has caused you so much trouble and ill. However Niacin's effects on the body are completely different. Whereas Nicotine makes the body dependent. Niacin helps the body work properly, and when correctly used, can even help considerably speed up the clearing of toxins form the lungs. It can help save a recently quit smoker from the damage that smoking has caused them. To smoking, Niacin is the antidote!
How Can Niacin Help Me?
Niacin can reduce the cravings for cigarettes. As Niacin has a similar biochemical shape to Nicotine,
it is thought that Nicotine may bind to the spots in the body that Niacin usually does. If you don't have enough Niacin in your diet, this 'need' for Niacin may be mistaken as a 'craving' for Nicotine (once the body has been introduced to cigarettes). With an optimal level of Niacin in your diet.
HEALTH WARNING: before you start any treatment program in this guide, you should consult with your doctor to be sure it is safe for you to proceed. If you choose to begin a program without doing this, you are solely responsible for any ill effects.
Researchers have theorized that as nicotine and niacin have similar shapes chemically, they may well bind to the same receptors (points on cells that chemicals bind to so as to have an effect on the functioning of those cells, or be drawn into them). This means that when you take niacin as a quit smoking aid, it may well bind to the same sites that nicotine once did in your body, helping reduce nicotine cravings, and making it easier for you to quit! (usually achieved with supplements) you will find that your desire to smoke reduces.
Niacin dilates (widens) blood vessels. This increases blood flow to areas that may be limited by plaques (see below) and allows immune cells and nutrients required for repairs better access to areas where they are needed. This effect is most important in the capillaries - the smallest blood vessels that are located at the points of exchange in the body, such as the skin, kidneys, brain, muscles, other major organs, and the lungs. Niacin can cause skin flushing during this action, where increased volume of blood flows through the area of the skin, giving you a flush of color and warmth.
As the blood flow increases through these previously restricted capillaries, waste products and toxins are removed more readily and in much greater volume, and are processed out of the body through the liver and kidneys. This is the opposite effect to nicotine, as smoking reduces circulation and restricts blood flow. This is exactly why you need niacin to increase the speed of clearance of tar and toxins from your lungs and body.
Niacin is known to be a highly successful cholesterol treatment. Optimal supplementation with Niacin reduces the levels of LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) in the blood by 10 to 25%. LDL is known as the 'bad' lipoprotein, as it passes off cholesterol to plaques. Niacin also leads to an increase the levels of HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) in the blood by up to 35%. HDL is
known as the 'good' lipoprotein, as it soaks up cholesterol, reducing the chance of that cholesterol
being oxidized and built into plaques.
Recommendations for Taking Niacin and its Effects on Your Body
As a starting point, take 100mg of niacin supplements every 3 to 4 hours from when you wake up to
when you go to sleep. It is recommended that you should have had your last cigarette and give it a
day or so for nicotine to be clearing from your system before going onto niacin treatments. It is quite
A deficiency of niacin in the diet can cause a range of symptoms, which may include canker sores,
depression, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, halitosis, headaches, indigestion, insomnia, limb pains, loss of appetite, low blood sugar,
muscular weakness, skin eruptions and inflammation. Interestingly, all of the above symptoms can be generated by
an overdose of nicotine. possible that even at this low dosage, you may experience a Niacin Flush. In an extreme case, this flush can feel like itching or burning of the skin, particularly on the face. At this level, it has been compared to the feeling of sunburn. If you experience this, please DO NOT PANIC. This reaction is totally normal and is a result of the large increase of blood flow through the capillaries - the tiny blood vessels.
The flush can last anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour, and it will become less bothersome after a few days, as your body will become used to it. Take note of how your lungs feel during the flush. You may well have the feeling that your lungs too are being flushed with extra blood supply. When the flush subsides, you may then feel like you have actually been smoking, or your lungs my feel a little uncomfortable. This is due to the mobilization of the toxins trapped in the tissues of your lungs. With each flush, a little more of the toxins will be liberated and removed from your body. You will really feel like you are detoxifying your lungs! You may consider doing some light exercise after taking the niacin to help it circulate through your blood vessels.
You can continue with 100mg does of niacin, or if you would like a more intense flush, you can increase the dosage gradually to 200mg. More than this is not recommended and is not necessary for this treatment.
Continue to take niacin like this as long as you feel it is helping detoxify your lungs. After a few months, your lungs will be well on their way to recovery, and you can reduce your dosage of niacin or take it less often. Your lungs will continue to clear whatever toxins and tar is left by this time, but you will have helped the process along
mightily with this treatment.
When you first start this treatment, do so in a comfortable space when you have some spare time. You don't want to be flushing
heavily at work, or out in public. After taking niacin for a few weeks, you may find that the flushing sensation lessens considerably. This is perfectly normal, and the niacin is still having the beneficial effects, and is still clearing your lungs and arteries of toxins.
Where to Buy Niacin
As niacin is considered a vitamin supplement in most countries, you can buy normal 'flushing' niacin
over the counter. However, you may live in a country where a prescription is required to get niacin.
If this is the case, you could consider ordering niacin online from another country, as it is generally
considered a vitamin and not a drug by boarder authorities. If you chose to do this, the Guide
makers cannot be held responsible for any legal issues that may arise. You do so of your own volition.
Important Note: while takingniacin, be sure to drink plenty of water. This is important because as niacin releases toxins into the blood stream, they need to be filtered out through the kidneys. To do this effectively, you need to be properly hydrated. So
water is vital for this process, and Niacin is water soluable, so if you feel uncomfortable at first while exploring the natural flush, just drink some water and the flush will subside. but the flush is important and it shows your body is absorbing the nicacn).
Important Note: as you increase your intake of niacin, its action will reduce the levels of other B group vitamins in your system.
Unless you also supplement these, you will cause a deficiency of these other important vitamins in your body, which will
be detrimental to your overall health. So take a multi-B group vitamin supplement once a day to help avoid this problem.
Important Note: For the detoxification process to be successful, you must use ordinary niacin. You will not get the
required effect with 'no flush niacin,' 'slow release niacin,' or Nicotinamide. Make sure that the label on your niacin says that
it can cause skin flushing.
http://www.puritanspride.com sells niacin pretty much worldwide from America at quite reasonable prices.
9.2 Ventolin
Ventolin is the well-known trade name for a compound called Salbutamol or albuterol, depending on where in the world you are. It is marketed by GlaxoSmithKline as Ventolin, Aerolin or Ventorlin depending on the market; by Cipla as Asthalin; by Schering-Plough as
Proventil and by Teva as ProAir (from here on, we will use the one name, Ventolin, however it is referring to any of the ones mentioned above). This drug is used for the relief of bronchospasm (a sudden constriction of the muscles in the walls of the bronchioles - larger air pipes in the lungs) in conditions such as asthma, bronchitis and COPD (see section 8.1 for an
explanation of COPD, and why it is important to an ex-smoker).
Every cigarette you've ever smoked has acted to clog up your airways, constricting the blood vessels
supplying the lungs, and basically reducing their overall function, quite significantly in many cases.
By using Ventolin, typically 2 puffs every 4 hours, your airways should relax and open up, assisting in
detoxification and making breathing easier, especially for the few days just after quitting when
symptoms of the end of that horrible habit are at their worst. When you are using Niacin you may feel unwell after a flush and a dose of Ventolin can help take the edge of this as well (detoxing the lungs can lead to some bronchospasm in some
cases). Also, by its very method of application, puffs of Ventalin can help sate cigarette cravings during the early post quit period.
Ventolin is very safe in the recommended dose range (it should NOT be used excessively; try to use it no more than 2
puffs every 4 hours), although there are several health considerations you should consider before using this treatment (see boxout). It can usually be bought at a pharmacy without a prescription. If you live in a country or state that does require a prescription for this common medication, then go to your doctor and tell them that you have recently quit smoking and you are having
trouble breathing, and that your chest feels tight and you would like to be prescribed Ventolin. If they have an
issue with this, you may need to see another doctor.
Ventolin, combined with Niacin, is the key to the quick removal of tar and other toxins from your lungs. They
also have the added benefits of helping you quit and helping you through the rough patch just after quitting.
Once you see their effects, you will be so glad you invested in this product! Ventolin usually consists of salbutamol sulfate, delivered by the inhaled route for direct effect on bronchial smooth muscle. This is usually achieved through a metered dose inhaler (MDI), nebulizer or other proprietary delivery device. In these forms of delivery, the maximal effect of Ventolin can take place within five to twenty minutes of dosing, though some relief is immediately seen.
IMPORTANT HEALTH WARNING: You should NOT use Ventolin (or other versions of this drug) if you are allergic to albuterol or salbutamol. Before using Ventolin, tell your doctor if you have: heart disease, high blood pressure or congestive heart
failure; a heart rhythm disorder; a seizure disorder such as epilepsy; diabetes; or overactive thyroid. If you have any of these conditions, you may not be able to safely use Ventolin, or you may need a dose adjustment or special tests during treatment.
Also, Ventolin may be harmful to unborn babies, and it is unknown if Ventolin passes into breast milk. So tell your doctor if you are pregnant or become pregnant during treatment, and if you are breast-feeding a baby. Really, you should not be
doing either of these things while you were smoking, and you should wait until you are a peak health before trying to become pregnant (this goes for men as well as women).
9.3 Foods and Supplements to Improve Lung Health
There are a number of foods that you can add to your diet to help your lungs detox. Some of these overlap with the food to boost your immune system, but are still worth mentioning here:
Garlic is considered one of the best foods for lung health. This food should not be ignored. It has a similar effect on the lungs as the niacin flush (expanding blood vessels), but also acts to reduce pulmonary (related to the lungs) hypertension (which includes muscle stress in both the diaphragm and arteries). It also has the beneficial effects on the immune system, as discussed in section 8.2.1. These effects may be felt tangibly in the clogged and poorly functioning lungs of a recent ex-smoker. You can take 1 clove of garlic with each meal (3 times a day), or for those that don't wantthe 'garlic breath' and 'pasty mouth' that raw garlic can cause, try 1000mg in tablet form. However, to get the best effects, raw is always the best for garlic.
Hot foods such as chili peppers, hot mustard, radishes, pepper, and others contain substances called "mucolytics" (similar to over-the counter expectorant cough syrups) that liquefy thick mucus that accumulates in the sinuses and breathing passages. This can help you break up the mucus in your lungs and get it out more easily, especially if your lung cilia are still recovering.
Vitamin A. I'm mentioning this terrific vitamin here because of one specific effect it can have on your lungs. I've mentioned time and again that smoking has a bad effect on the cilia (tiny, hair like protrusions on the inner surface of your lungs that help clear them of mucus and foreign substances such as pollution and toxins), paralyzing them or burning them off completely in some cases. A supplementation (or a high dietary intake) of carotenoids (and epically beta carotene, the substance that vitamin A is made from in our bodies) can rapidly speed up the recovery of these very important little hair like structures, thus greatly speeding up improvements towards healthy lung function after quitting. Foods high in beta carotene include carrots, spinach, kale, cantaloupe, apricots, papaya, mango, and oatmeal. You can get a lot of the other carotenoids from sweet potato as well.
Onions have long been known to be beneficial, even if they have a potent taste and smell. Onion is rich in many different components that are good for you, including Vitamin C and B6, as well as folic acid, and even potassium. Onions also contain quercetin, with is an antioxidant. This may be responsible for preventing many diseases, including lung cancer and even heart problems. This component also helps prevent blood clots.
RedWine is known to help prevent cancers and heart disease, but it may also help those who suffer from inflammatory conditions of the lung, such as COPD (see section 8.1 for a definition). Wine acts a natural anti-inflammatory and may greatly assist those suffering from the disease. It may also be beneficial in keeping your entire body healthy and promoting healthy lungs, not to mention the antioxidant benefits. This isn’t a license to go drink a bottle a day, but a glass every night or every other night can be very beneficial for disease prevention. Remember moderation is the key.
IMPORTANT HEALTH WARNING:
it is NOT advised to take ANY form of direct vitamin A supplementation. The practice is dangerous, and can lead to vitamin
A poisoning. If you want to know what sort of horrible things this can do to you, read any account of Sir Douglas Mawson's tragic expedition to the South Pole. However, taking carotenoid supplementation is perfectly saf
Green Tea is one of the most popular preventives on the market. As more research is done on thebbenefits of this tea, expect it to continue to stock the shelves of your local markets. That’s a good thing since green tea may be responsible for preventing not only lung cancer, but a host of other diseases as well. Drinking a cup several times a day (unsweetened if you can stand it, otherwise,
sweeten with a Stevia sweetener rather than sugar).
9.4 Physical Treatments
There are a number of physical treatments that have been shown to help to clear tar from the lungs and also to improve blood
flow, energy and health to that area of the body.
9.4.1 Lung Exercises
It is a simple fact that most smokers probably aren't that fit. If you were a smoker who is fit, then you'll quickly notice the
improvement in your performance after quitting, since your maximal oxygen exchange is lowered significantly by smoking.
Now I've recommended exercise to help quit, help reduce stress help your immune function. It is somewhat obvious that I am
going to suggest it again here. Exercise really does help everything you do, every day. We are meant to get a certain
amount of exercise every day, and when we don't, we suffer for it.
Just about any exercise you do requires an increase in gas exchange. This makes your lungs work harder. In working harder, they get more blood supply and thus help them detox and recover more quickly. It will also improve the muscle tone of your diaphragm.
Due to the tar in your lungs from smoking, they will have lost at least a portion of their elasticity (stretchiness). This is part of the symptoms of emphysema. Exercising your lungs will help to increase their elasticity again, thus making breathing that little bit easier. It will also help increase your lung volume too.
Static Lung Exercises
Here are some examples of some static lung exercises;
Lay your hand on your stomach as you inhale fully and then exhale slowly in a controlled manner.
Breathe in slowly and deeply while lifting your arms above your head, and then exhaling
slowly while dropping your arms back to your sides.
Try taking deep breaths and holding them for as long as you can.
Pursed lip breathing; inhale through your nose and breathe out through pursed lips, as if you
were blowing out a candle. Your exhale should be twice as long as your inhale.
Do any or all of these for at least 10 minutes a day.
The rule with static lung exercises is to make sure you breathe deeply, as most loss of lung
volume and lung muscle tone comes from shallow breathing, which we switch to when we
If you ever find yourself out of breathe, and your heart racing after exercise, here is a trick to get your heart rate down
quickly. Take a deep breath, then exhale out as far as you can, getting every little bit of air out of your lungs, while
dropping into a squat. Hold that until you feel you must take another breath,
and then breathe as evenly as you can and come back to a standing position.
You can do this several times if you'd like. The reason this helps is that your heart rate is tied to you exhalation rate (speed at which you repeatedly breathe out). If you consciously slow the rate at which you exhale, your heart rate will drop too.
if you are feeling stressed, and when our lungs are damaged and tar laden from smoking. You may well find that the first few times you take deep breaths you feel the tickle of mucus coming away from the air sacks and bronchioles and you will cough. This is perfectly fine. You want all that tar and toxin laden mucus out of your lungs. Regular lung exercises can do that.
Active Lung Exercises
Active lung exercises are when you are exercising your body, and there is a need for more gas
exchange in your lungs. A good place to start is taking a walk in a relaxing environment. A slow

Here are some examples of some static lung exercises;
A slow
